Cape Town – The raging fire in the reeds between the N2 and Baden Powell Drive was contained before it could spread to the Cape Town Film Studios, the City of Cape Town Fire Services said on Saturday evening.

“The fire has been contained, but a crew will remain for some time until it burns itself out,” Fire Services spokesperson Theo Layne told News24.

Layne said the N2 was earlier closed due to bad visibility but has since been reopened. He said the remainder of the fire was being monitored by the support crew left behind.

Four fire engines, three water tankers and 26 fire fighters are still on the ground monitoring the fire. Layne said no one was injured and no property was damaged during the blaze.
