DA has never run a more intense campaign - Zille

2016-08-03 09:56

Cape Town - Western Cape Premier Helen Zille is enormously happy with the DA's campaign and believes former President Nelson Mandela belongs to all South Africans.

"We have never run a better or more intense campaign," she said after voting at St Paul's Church in Rondebosch on Wednesday.

"The late Nelson Mandela was a symbol for all. Jacob Zuma invoked the name of Jesus Christ, as though he is a member of the ANC!"

Zille, in a DA blue jacket, was warmly greeted by election officials and police officers.

When she handed over her ID card, she reminded them that her surname was Maree (her married name), not Zille. She told reporters that not everyone had been "touched" by a DA government, but that "the longer we're in office, the better it gets".

Zille said it would be presumptuous to predict how people would vote.
