Durban - A dead baby was found dumped on the corner of a busy Durban street on Saturday night, ER24 said.

It is understood that a member of the public found the new-born baby wrapped in a black rubbish bag at a robot near the shops on Joe Slovo Street, said spokesperson Chitra Bodasing.

The police then called paramedics. Bodasing said that on arrival the ER24 team found that it was too late for the baby boy.

Authorities were on scene to investigate further.
