Cape Town – Drugs and R34 000 in cash have been found in an abandoned shack in Gugulethu, a Cape Town Metro Police official said on Tuesday.

Members of the safety and security special investigation unit were looking for a suspect in the Europe informal settlement on Monday when they knocked on the shack door, said Deputy Chief Yolande Faro.

She said the owner opened up and ran away. Investigators saw two plates on the ground which contained a white substance and cooldrink straws.

The substance was found to be tik with an estimated street value of R10 000, dagga with an estimated street value of R1 000, and just over R34 000 in cash.

All these items were handed in at the Gugulethu police station.

Faro said the investigation was continuing.
