La Lucia – A 56-year-old man died in a car crash in La Lucia, near Umhlanga, in KwaZulu-Natal on Friday morning.

While the exact details of the accident are not yet clear, it is believed that the man lost control of his vehicle causing the car to overturn on the M4 North. The vehicle came to a standstill in a bush next to the highway.

According to Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha, paramedics arrived at the scene to find the man trapped in the wreckage.

"Paramedics worked fervently for some time to resuscitate the critically wounded man, but despite their best efforts the patient was declared dead at the scene."

Police are investigating the cause of the incident.
