Durban - A dentist from Westville, Durban was crushed to death by a falling tree on Saturday, said KwaZulu-Natal paramedics.

The tree came crashing down as a it was being cut by tree fellers, said ER24 spokesperson Werner Vermaak.

"He was passing through when the tree fell and crushed the roof and front part of his car," said Vermaak.

The dentist, who has not been named yet, had been travelling on his own. He was found trapped in the vehicle and declared dead at the scene.
