Eastern Cape man gets 10 years for fatal stabbing

Eastern Cape - A man was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for murder in the Willowvale Regional Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, Eastern Cape police said on Thursday.

According to police spokesperson Captain Jackson Manatha, on September 22 2015, Asavela Skoti, 22, approached the accused, Akhele Gcwabe, 21, at a bus stop in Mboya village and asked the accused about Skoti's brother's stabbing.

Skoti asked Gcwabe who had stabbed his brother and in response, Gcwabe took out a knife and stabbed Skoti in his upper arm.

He died instantly.

Gcwabe was convicted and sentenced on Tuesday.
