Eastern Cape man jailed for rape

Butterworth – A man was jailed for 18 years for raping a 21-year-old woman at Sokapase Village in Ngqamakhwe, Eastern Cape police said on Saturday.   

The 33-year-old Mendo Kalimashe was sentenced on Thursday by the Tsomo Regional Magistrate’s Court, Captain Jackson Manatha said in a statement.  

Kalimashe raped the woman after she rejected his marriage proposal on November 16, 2012, Manatha said.   

A case of rape was opened and Kalimashe was arrested.
