WATCH: Nationwide protests as MPs go to Parly for #ZumaVote

2017-08-08 15:31

Marshals have had their hands full, struggling to control crowds of marchers running towards Parliament, as people make their way there in the build-up to the vote of no confidence in President Jacob Zuma.WATCH

Pretoria – Three men believed to be EFF supporters who allegedly tried to steal from a Shoprite store and threatened staff, appeared briefly in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, police said.

The three, aged between 18 and 38, were charged with intimidation and theft and each released on bail of R500, Captain Daniel Mavimbela said in a statement.

They were not asked to plead and the case was postponed to August 28.

They were apparently part of an EFF march to the Union buildings on Tuesday, and went to the Shoprite outlet in Sunnyside afterwards.

After they allegedly ordered staff to close the shop, they took groceries from the shelves. Once the cashier had scanned the items, they allegedly refused to pay for them. The security guard stopped them from leaving. Police were called and the three were arrested.
