Durban - An elderly woman is in a serious condition after she got out of her vehicle only to have it roll back onto her.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha said paramedics were called to the scene in Union Crescent, Rosehill, on Tuesday afternoon.

"Reports from the scene indicate that a lady had got out of the vehicle to open the gate when [it] rolled back onto her. Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene and found the elderly lady on the ground with serious injuries."

He said she was later transported to a local hospital.
