Two teenagers were murdered on Nyanga's KTC streets in a matter of days, but their families are too afraid to speak out.WATCH

Giyani - The family of a 10-year-old girl found dead in a shallow grave next to the Ritavi River in Limpopo is battling to cope with her sudden death.

Zanele Shirinda, from Ngove village, outside Giyani, was found on Thursday around 17:00. She went missing on Monday after she was sent to buy airtime at a spaza shop.

Zanele's uncle and family spokesperson Kenneth Masuluke said on Friday the family was not coping and searching for answers about her death.

She was a humble child who always showed respect to elderly people, he recounted.

“As a family we have lost a brilliant child; she was so intelligent at school and we used to see this with her school report. We want the perpetrator who did this to be arrested and justice for our young Zanele.”

Zanele was in Grade 4 at Khambani Primary School.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said no arrests had been made.

Mopani District Municipality mayor Nkakareng Rakgoale condemned the killing. She urged police to bring the perpetrators to book so the family could get closure.

“We are scared when such killings happen in our villages; it means that our people are no longer safe,” Rakgoale said.
