Fire burning through Hout Bay informal settlements

Cape Town - About 20 informal structures have caught fire in Hout Bay, Fire and Rescue services said on Thursday.

Fire and Rescue services spokesperson Liezl Moodie told News24 that the fire started around noon, and was currently burning through the Mandela Park and Imizamo Yethu informal settlements.

“We have nine vehicles on scene and 33 firefighters are busy battling the blaze,” Moodie said

No injuries have been reported.

It was not yet clear what started the blaze, Moodie added.
