Fisherman dies after asthma attack at sea - NSRI

2016-02-22 13:38

Durban - A fisherman died after suffering an asthma attack while on board a boat 20 nautical miles west of Cape Recife, near Port Elizabeth, on Monday.

National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) spokesperson Craig Lambinon said that other fishermen had tried to administer first aid in a desperate bid to save their fellow crewman.

Rescuers and a paramedic were activated, and made their way to the boat.

"Sadly, the paramedic declared the fisherman deceased and arrangements have been made by the owners for the body of the deceased fisherman to be recovered," Lambinon said.
