Johannesburg - Five of Cosatu's top six leaders have been nominated unopposed for their positions.

Cosatu president Sdumo Dlamini is set to stay in his position.

The positions of first deputy president and second deputy president would also be retained by Tyotyo James and Zingiswa Losi respectively, while Frede Oosthuizen retains her position as treasurer.

Bheki Ntshalintshali, who has been acting general secretary since the expulsion of Zwelinzima Vavi, was uncontested for the post.

The position for his deputy however is the only contested one.

Cosatu North West regional chairperson Solly Phetoe and former Denosa North West provincial secretary Oscar Phaka are standing for the position of deputy general secretary.

The Food and Allied Workers Union attempted to have the nominations for uncontested positions reopened.

There was a vote on whether to keep the nominations open until Tuesday morning but majority of delegates voted against this.
