2016-03-14 12:39

Johannesburg - Metro police arrested four men in possession of stolen copper cable worth R100 000 in central Johannesburg early on Monday morning, a spokesperson said.

“The suspects told officers that they were working with the security guards who informed them where the cables were,” Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said.

The men were seen on CCTV cameras removing the cables from a manhole around 04:30. Two were caught on the scene as they tried to run away. The other two were arrested shortly afterwards.

Police would investigate the claims that security guards were involved.
