“IPSS performed put one patient on a ventilator and the AMS helicopter landed on scene. The patients condition deteriorated and was unable to be transferred by helicopter. The patient has been transferred to Alberlito while IPSS Medical Rescue medics continue CPR.”

Another member the family is believed to have only suffered minor injuries.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha said reports from members of the public indicate that a mother and two daughters got into difficulty and dad went in to assist and also had to be rescued.

Fairmont Zimbali Resort spokesperson Joanne du Plooy confirmed the family were guests of the hotel.
