Bloemfontein – The EFF in the Free State welcomed more than 30 members on Thursday who ditched the DA at an event held in Botshabelo outside Bloemfontein.

"The EFF is growing in leaps and bounds. While other people are struggling to fill up stadiums in their manifestos, the EFF continues to grow," said the party's provincial chairperson, Kgotso Morapela.

Among those who joined the party was former DA caucus member Abe Mosiuoa, who said he needed to join a party that would bring change.

Mosiuoa said he had served the DA for the past 14 years, only to be "victimised".

"I have wasted my time with the DA. It is evident that the party was going nowhere. The party needs to transform. I joined the DA in 2003 and I regret having done so," he said.

"The reason I chose to join the EFF is because their manifesto is very straight forward, it really speaks to people’s needs."

Another former DA member, Simon Seala, 41, who was visibly cheerful about his move from DA to the EFF, said he needed a party that understood the challenges of the poor.

"I wanted to see my way forward. I want to continue fighting with the EFF. The party continues to fight for the poor," he said.
