Bloemfontein – Free State police are investigating a case of murder after a man was stabbed and shot dead during a house robbery in Thubelisha in Thabong, police said on Tuesday.

Solomon Matabela Jorose, 29, was at home with his wife on Friday night when they heard noises outside their house, Sergeant Mamello Mokhuoane said.

When he went outside to check, four men grabbed, stabbed and shot him, said Mokhuoane. He was declared dead on scene.

The four suspects later ransacked the man’s house and demanded money from the wife. They took five cellphones and R1 000.

No arrest had yet been made.
