Wet conditions are expected across most of the country with heavy thunderstorms over parts of the central interior on Friday.

Severe thunderstorms are expected over the western parts of the North West and the western and central parts of the Free State, according to information provided by the South African Weather Service.

Temperatures along the coast are expected to be cool.

The weather in your region

Gauteng will be partly cloudy and warm with scattered showers and thundershowers. The expected UVB sunburn index will be moderate.

It will be cloudy in the east with morning fog patches in Mpumalanga. Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy with isolated showers and thundershowers, but scattered in the south.

Limpopo is expected to be partly cloudy with isolated showers and thundershowers in the south.

It will be partly cloudy and warm in the North West. Scattered showers and thundershowers are expected, but isolated in the east.

The Free State will be cool in places in the east. Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy and warm with scattered showers and thundershowers, but isolated in the southwest.

It will be cloudy in the west of the Northern Cape. Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thundershowers over the extreme eastern and northern parts. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong southerly to south-easterly.

It will be cloudy over the central and eastern parts of the Western Cape at first. Otherwise, it will fine to partly cloudy and cool with isolated morning showers along the south-east coast. It will be warm in places over the West Coast district. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south-easterly but strong over the southwest. The expected UVB sunburn index will be very high.

The Eastern Cape will be cloudy and cold with isolated showers and rain but scattered in the east and adjacent interior; and widespread along the Wild Coast. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate.

Partly cloudy and cool conditions are expected in KwaZulu-Natal, with scattered showers and thundershowers but widespread along the south coast. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south-westerly to southerly. The expected UVB sunburn index will be low.
