Friday's weather: Temperatures rise, fire warnings for 5 provinces

It is expected to be a slightly warmer day on Friday as temperatures are expected to rise, while fire danger warnings have been issued for five provinces.

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the central and eastern parts of the Northern Cape, the Central and Little Karoo of the Western Cape, the western parts of both the Free State and North West, and the central and northern parts of the Eastern Cape province.

It will be warm along the coast, as provided by the South African Weather Service.

It will be fine and warm in Gauteng, becoming partly cloudy from the afternoon. The expected UVB sunburn index will be extreme.

Mpumalanga is expected to have morning fog and drizzle along the escarpment where it will be cool. Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy and warm with isolated morning showers on the high ground.

Morning drizzle and fog patches are expected along the escarpment in Limpopo. Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy and warm.

It will be fine and warm in the North West, becoming partly cloudy in the west with isolated thundershowers.

The Free State will be fine and cool to warm. It will become partly cloudy with isolated thundershowers, except in the extreme south-west.

It will be cool along the coast of the Northern Cape, with morning fog patches. Otherwise, it will be fine and warm. Strong winds are expected.

It will be hot in places over the eastern interior of the Western Cape. Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy and warm. Rain is expected at times, spreading along the West Coast tomorrow night. The wind along the coast will be moderate. The expected UVB sunburn index will also be moderate.

The Eastern Cape is expected to be fine and warm. The wind along the coast will be moderate.

Morning fog is expected over the interior of KwaZulu-Natal. Isolated showers and thundershowers are expected in the northeast. Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy and warm. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh. The expected UVB sunburn index will be high.
