On the 31st of March 2016, the constitutional court delivered a judgement, on a matter brought forward by the opposition parties against the President and the Speaker of the National Assembly, in relation to compliance with findings of the Public Protector.

The Constitutional Court judgement provided clarity on the findings of the public protector on the security upgrades at the President’s private residence:-

- The remedial action by the Public Protector is binding.

- The National Treasury must determine the reasonable costs at Nkandla that do not relate to security upgrades that ought to be paid personally by the President, of which it was also the offer he made to the Concourt.

The NEC of the ANC and the President accepted the clarity provided by the Constitutional Court. The President has apologised to the nation. He further assured the nation of his intention to comply with all the orders of the Constitutional Court judgement.

The ANC at its extended NWC meeting on the 4th of April 2016 accepted the apology of the President, and further resolved that there will be no disruption of the term of office of the State President.

Our men and women in collar, should be the first to accept the apology, especially in line with Romans 13:1-7. They can’t sing from the hym book of the opposition.

These sentiments were echoed by the ANC and its Alliance Partners at a Provincial Alliance Summit held on the 2nd & 3rd April 2016

A meeting of the ANC PEC and all RECs was convened today the 12th of April 2016 at Ehlanzeni District Municipality. The meeting accepted the decision of the extended NWC without reservation. The apology of the President was accepted and our structures are at peace with that.

Our branches are waiting for the leadership to properly brief them. We are proud of our branches that there is not a single branch which decided to break the ranks and started to jump the gun.

The PEC is going to engage with the Alliance Partners and the entire society.

We are ready to support the ANC and its leaders. We call all leaders and former leaders, Masupatsela and all those who are representing themselves to express their views in the formal ANC gatherings. During their time we did not write open letters to express our views, we walked into their offices.
