Pretoria – A fund is being set up to ensure black property developers benefit from Tshwane’s inner city regeneration programme, said Mayor Kgosientso Ramokgopa, on Thursday.

The city was entering into a memorandum of understanding with the Public Investment Corporation to access funding for black developers, he said during his state of the city address.

It was expected to be signed before the end of June and would be exclusively for black business people.

“We are unashamed by our transformation agenda. The fund is for black players and no one else so that we are able to entrench their participation in the area," said Ramokgopa.

“The biggest mistake you can commit when you’re pursuing a transformation agenda is to be apologetic. We must pursue it unflinchingly and we will ensure it happens."
