Johannesburg – Four men who used a toy gun to hijack three cars in Tembisa have been arrested, Gauteng police said on Saturday. The four, aged between 20 and 27 were arrested following a tip-off from the community, Captain Manyaza Ralidzhivha said. Ralidzhivha said on Sunday the men allegedly stole a Toyota Yaris at Empangeni from a woman who was driving out from her yard. On Tuesday, they hijacked a 66-year-old man while opening his gate at Hospital view. “He was pointed with a firearm and his family was pushed out of the vehicle. The men drove away with his Grey VW Jetta 6. It was also established that the firearm they were using was a toy gun,” he said. On the same day, they allegedly hijacked a Ford Bantam at Isiziba section in Tembisa. He said the suspects might be linked to other cases of hijacking, armed robbery and pointing of firearm. They would appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court on Monday on charges of car hijackings and possession of a hijacked motor vehicle.
