Johannesburg – A police reservist was arrested after he was found with an illegal firearm during a roadblock in Midrand, Gauteng, police said on Sunday.
Spokesperson Lieutenant Kay Makhubela said the man was nabbed when the vehicle in which he was travelling was stopped at a roadblock on Sunday morning in Midrand.
“They searched the car and found the police reservist inside... He had a firearm that was filed off.”
The man was arrested and will appear in court on Tuesday on charges relating to the possession of an unlicensed firearm.
Makhubela said the man was identified as a police reservist and had an appointment certificate with him.
