Johannesburg - A young woman allegedly raped by her taxi boss father testified in the High Court sitting in Palm Ridge on Tuesday.

The 43-year-old Tembisa man allegedly raped the girl, her sister, and her cousin between 2007 and 2013. He allegedly often did so at gunpoint. The girls were aged between 12 and 17 at the time.

She gave her testimony in camera to protect her identity. She, her sister and mother are being kept in witness protection to ensure their safety during the trial.

The man is also accused of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm for allegedly beating up the younger of his two daughters when she fell pregnant, resulting in her miscarrying.

According to Women and Men Against Child Abuse, the man buried the foetus as his daughter watched.

The younger girl’s boyfriend testified on Tuesday. The alleged rapist’s lawyer was expected to cross-examine the boyfriend on Wednesday.

The accused man was expected to give his version of events on Wednesday.
