Cape Town – A Gauteng man is expected to appear in court on Monday after officers found Mandrax with an estimated street value of around R1m hidden under his car.

The 62-year-old was arrested in a Hawks operation on the N2 between Port Elizabeth and George on Saturday, said Captain Malcolm Pojie.

Officers pulled over and searched a "suspicious" Honda Ballade that was headed for the Western Cape.

They found 19 0000 tablets concealed in bags under various parts of the vehicle’s chassis.

The tablets and the car were confiscated as evidence.

The man was expected to appear in the Motherwell Magistrate’s Court, on a charge of illegal drug dealing, later on Monday.
