Cape Town – Heavy rain was expected in Cape Town and other parts of the Western Cape from Tuesday evening, a City disaster risk management official has warned.

Spokesperson Charlotte Powell said the SA Weather Service warning was applicable to the Cape Metropole, Overberg, Cape Winelands and southern parts of the West Coast district.

The rain was expected to last until Wednesday.

"As a result, flooding could be possible in some areas."

She said all relevant City departments and external agencies were on standby.

Any emergency or distress call could be reported to the City's 107 number from a landline. Cellphone users could dial 021 480 7700.
