Cape Town – Another good Samaritan is on a mission to ensure two holidaymakers are reunited with their lost camera and holiday photographs.

- Do you have a good news story to share? Let us know.

A 32-year-old photographer from Pretoria, Monique Blofield, was picking up her husband, Kersey Blofield, from OR Tambo International Airport in October 2015 when they discovered an unfamiliar camera bag lodged beneath their luggage.

“We were in a hurry, so we didn’t have time to run to the airport’s lost and found and we were worried the camera might get lost there,” recalls Blofield.

“Because we’re photographers ourselves, we realise the value of this stuff.”

The Samsung camera was relatively new, filled with photographs of a woman and a man holidaying in Cape Town – with images taken at various attraction points from Table Mountain, to the Two Oceans Aquarium and on the City Siteseeing hop on and hop off red bus.

After several phone calls to the airport’s lost and found desk nobody had come forward to ask about the camera, so Blofield decided to use a different strategy.

“I actually didn’t think of Facebook as a tool to find them. But when I saw the article about a lady who actually found a guy’s wallet, I thought now we have to try again.”

Blofield turned to social media and posted a photograph of the camera’s owners on Facebook, in hopes that she would be able to reach out to the two people.

“I realise how much the photos are worth, never mind the camera. Memories are important.”
