It won’t be long now. Black Friday is right around the corner.

That’s when many retailers slash their prices in an attempt to attract more clients.

But advertisements for Black Friday bargains already started doing the rounds last week. And even in the days leading up to Black Friday, which originated in the US, a few bargains already started popping up on some online retailers.

We checked which bargains you can pick up on Friday and when you need to be ready to sit in front of your computer so that you can click, shop and save.

Shoprite is taking part in Black Friday for the first time this year. But which products will be available at a discount price on Friday is still a secret.

And while many impatient customers have already asked the retail giant when their Black Friday deals will be made available their only reply is: “Soon. Keep an eye on our website and social media platforms.” What we do know is Shoprite is promising discounts of up to 50% on certain items.

Checkers is also promising 50% discount on selected items, although no further details have been made available.

Pick n Pay have also kept mum about the discount deals they’ll have on offer on Friday. But the retailer has announced that their doors will open at 07:00 for bargain-hunting patrons. Certain stores will even be opening as early as 06:00. Go to pnp.co.za to check what time the store in your area will be opening.

Makro’s Black Friday catalogue is already available. The bulk retailers discount deals already started from 22 November and run until Sunday 26 November. Fridges, washing machines, large gas stoves and smartphones are some of the products which are selling for reduced prices.

Dion Wired has also released their catalogue. But take note, as certain Black Friday deals are only available on their online store.

If you want to avoid the crowds of people who’ll almost certainly descend on the stores you need to be prepared and at your computer at 00:00 sharp. Most online stores will make their Black Friday specials available from a minute past midnight.

Takealot.com’s executive head, Kim Reid, told Netwerk24 that 15 000 products are included in this year’s promotion. But customers will have to wait to find out which discounts are on offer during the course of the day on Friday.

Clients who’ve downloaded the Takealot app on their smartphones will have a headstart on online customers and will be the first to have access to discount deals.

On their Facebook page Takealot confirmed that certain prices will be reduced by as much as 60%. From Friday 24 to Monday 27 November, known as Cyber Monday, the travel agency Travelstart, will also have a sale on discount flight tickets.

So if you haven’t bought flight tickets for your next holiday yet be sure to keep an eye on the website from Friday onwards. Online clothing retailers such as Spree.co.za and Superbalist.com already started running special offers earlier this week, to give eager shoppers a taste of what’s to come on Friday.

If you want to get a sneak peek of what will be on offer on Friday, it’s a good idea to make sure you’re signed up to receive the online retailers’ newsletters.
