Johannesburg - The son of former SABC board member Hope Zinde did not appear in the Brits Magistrate's Court on Monday, due to a 30-day psychiatric evaluation that was still underway, North West police said.

Colonel Sabata Mokgwabone said Mark Zinde, 23, would only appear in court on August 10.

He had been waiting for a bed to become available at Weskoppies Psychiatric Hospital and only got place last week.

He was arrested in connection with his mother's murder in June. Her body was found in the boot of her Range Rover at her home in the Pecanwood Estate, Hartebeespoort, on Saturday June 11, after a family friend went looking for her.

Drugs and a 10kg weight covered in blood were found in the home, police said at the time.
