Hostage drama at Cape Town school resolved

Cape Town - Two men were held hostage at Solomon Qatyana Primary School, Lwandle, on Tuesday morning, police confirmed.

It is believed that one of the men is the principal of the school. 

Police spokesperson Andrè Traut said the men had since been released and sustained no injuries. 

A case of kidnapping has been opened, Traut said. 

No arrests have been made and no further information on the circumstances surrounding the incident was available. 

Western Cape Education Department spokesperson Paddy Atwell did not respond to a request for comment.
