In news:

The US’s terror alert for South Africa is still grabbing the headlines. In an exclusive, News24 reported that an apparently discredited source was behind the alert. A source with access to South African intelligence said, however, that the businessman was believed by South Africa to be a "discredited" informer who was only after the money he’d be paid for the information.


In KZN, developments continue in the province’s Cabinet. Themba Mthembu has accepted the position of Agriculture MEC while Peggy Nkonyeni, who had just been axed from the education portfolio, resigned as an MPL.

In international news, Hillary Clinton made history as the first presumptive nominee of a major US political party who is a woman. GET MORE ON THAT HERE.

In finance:

Still on the topic of the terror alert, the Tourism Business Council of SA urged the local travel and tourism industry to be vigilant. TBCSA CEO Mmatšatši Ramawela said that, during a time when the travel industry was trying to find its feet following tough trading conditions, terror alerts were the last thing they needed.

It also emerged on Tuesday that the SA Revenue Service paid KPMG over R23m for its highly-contested probe into its investigation unit which was founded when Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan was Sars commissioner. FIND OUT MORE HERE
