Durban - The chair of the office park where a suspected secret online porn den had been operating under the guise of being a call centre, said he was “appalled” by what had emerged.

Gavin Futcher, chair of Lakeside Office Park inside Derby Downs Complex, said that he had had no idea what office space had been converted into bedrooms where women peddled webcam pornography.

An irked porn star, identified only as Chantelle, had lifted the lid on the den which had been passed off as a call centre after she alleges she was not paid her last month’s wages.

Via sites Iamlive.com and Jasmine.com, women using webcams reportedly chat to men and then proceed into private chat rooms with a camera feed which bills the viewer’s credit card by the minute.

“When they moved in in the middle of April they said they there were operating a call centre from America. The guy justified working irregular hours because they needed to work [according to] American business hours,” Futcher said.

“I used to see him in the car park but I never got to know him.”

Futcher added that the tenant, who was running the webcam porn operation, had moved out of the units last week.

“He disappeared over the weekend and the first time I heard anything about it was then the girl and her boyfriend came to me and said they hadn’t been paid,” he said.

“The owner also didn’t have a clue what was going on.  We were all caught completely unawares and are all appalled by what has happened,” he said.
