Potchefstroom - The first resident to vote at the Laerskool President Pretorius voting station in Potchefstroom on Wednesday said she was disappointed at the IEC administration there. I woke up at 5.30, went to pour petrol and I was here at 6.50. But I'm glad I've done it, I hope the right person wins," said the elderly woman who did want to be named. She and a few other elderly residents were sent to the front of the queue after spending almost 30 minutes in the cold waiting for IEC officials to begin open up the voting process.Three University of North West students who had arrived as early as 6.15am said they were excited to be voting for the first time. One student said although the experience was exciting she now felt "old". She then rushed back to her car to escape the chilly weather. Most residents have expressed their disappointment at the late start at the voting station, especially considering the weather conditions they are forced to stand in, while they wait. However by 07:45 things were finally running smoothly.
