Durban – President Jacob Zuma has received various reports on investigations into alleged maladministration in a number of government departments which were conducted by the Special Investigating Unit (SIU), the Presidency said on Monday.

In a statement, the Presidency said this followed a directive for the unit to investigate various allegations relating to fraud, corruption and maladministration.

The Presidency said Zuma had since written to the respective departments requesting that they implement the recommendations laid out in the reports.

In all of the cases, the SIU was tasked with investigating, among other things, corruption, fraud and unlawful appropriation or expenditure.

The Presidency said the reports related to:

- The Eastern Cape Department of Education;

- The Eastern Cape Department of Roads and Transport;

- The State Information Technology Agency (SETA);

- The Public Service Sector Education and Training Authority (PSETA);

- The South African Post Office.

According to the Presidency, some of the investigations dated as far back as 2010, while others were as recent as 2014.

"Zuma has written to all agencies and departments to comply with recommendations emerging from the SIU investigations," said the presidency.
