Cape Town – The Independent Police Investigative Directorate is investigating four cases against Hawks head General Berning Ntlemeza, the police ministry has said.

These cases were all opened between 2015 and 2016, after Ntlemeza was appointed to his position.

Replying to a question from DA MP Zakhele Mbhele, Police Minister Nathi Nhleko said, according to their information, four matters were under investigation.

These included a case of defeating the ends of justice and corruption opened in 2015. The matter was now with the senior public prosecutor for a decision.

This was opened by Limpopo-based Lieutenant Boitumelo Ramahlaha after a docket against a Limpopo police officer mysteriously went missing.

A case of perjury was also opened by General Johan Booysen against Ntlemeza in October and it was still under investigation.

Police were also investigating a case of fraud, crimen injuria and a defamation of character case opened by Booysen in 2015.

A case of fraud, uttering and corruption was opened in Polokwane in 2015 by Ramahlaha, but the director of public prosecutions declined it.
