Cape Town – A man was on the run on Wednesday after he ordered jewellery from a store in Century City and then decided to hold staff up, Western Cape police said.

He went to the jewellery store in the mall shortly after 08:00 to collect his order, which he had placed two days before, said police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Andre Traut.

It is understood that the man targeted the American Swiss in Canal Walk.

While he was attended to by staff, he pulled out a gun and robbed the store of his order of jewellery pieces, as well as cash and a cellphone.

He then fled the scene.

Traut said they were investigating the robbery.
