"We are not in discussion with the EFF on a coalition, but we have had a meeting with EFF around issues that pertain to our programmes, which we think are programmes that are pro-poor," Johannesburg ANC regional secretary Dada Morero told journalists.

The two parties had agreed to hold follow-up meetings in 2017.

Morero said the parties had agreed to present their issues and begin to collaborate in the DA-run council. The ANC was also trying to engage with the Inkatha Freedom Party on a possible collaboration in council.
