A man was hit by a train and Johannesburg and has miraculously survived the incident.

According to Netcare 911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst, the company responded to a call at 19:52 on Friday night at the Jeppestown Train Station.

"Reports from the scene indicate that an adult male was struck down by a train while crossing," Herbst said. 

According to Herbst, the patient was assessed and found to be in a serious condition.

"He was treated on scene and once stabilised was transported by ambulance to hospital for further treatment."

Circumstances around the incident were unclear.
