Joburg taxi driver arrested for allegedly stabbing, killing fellow driver

Johannesburg – A 42-year-old taxi driver was arrested and charged with murder, after he allegedly stabbed a fellow taxi driver to death at the Faraday taxi rank in Johannesburg over the weekend, police said on Monday.

Police Captain Xoli Mbele said the incident happened at the corner of Grahamstown and Von Wielligh streets in Johannesburg around 16:00 on Sunday afternoon.

Mbele said the taxi driver had allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed the 38-year-old man in the upper body following an argument.

He was declared dead on the scene.

The man is expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
