Nomthetho Kilo of the Social Justice Coalition (SJC) says the two men who stand accused of the rape and murder of Sinoxolo Mafevuka are people she knew.WATCH

Cape Town – The bail application of two men accused of raping and killing 19-year-old Sinoxolo Mafevuka is expected to continue in the Khayelitsha Magistrate's Court on Thursday.

During the pair's last appearance on Tuesday, a witness told the court he saw the two men dragging the teenager towards communal toilets in Khayelitsha the early hours of March 2. Hours later, her naked body was found in the toilets, a short walk from the shack where she lived with her brother. Her clothing had been stuffed into the cistern.

He said he knew both men from the area and had been returning from a local tavern at 00:30 when he heard a woman scream. He hid behind the shacks so they would not see him, he told the court.

The two men, aged 21 and 26, may not be named to ensure their safety, the court ordered previously.

They are cousins of Makevuka's boyfriend. Before she died they apparently confronted her about leaving a bar with another man. They were arrested two weeks after the murder.

The court had heard that Mafevuka's boyfriend allegedly stabbed a boy who was seen with police detectives in the neck. He is in hospital.
