Johannesburg - A possible trial date finally looks set to be on the horizon for convicted drug dealer Radovan Krejcir, Siboniso Miya, Nkanyiso Mafunda, Siphiwe Memela and Borislavov Grigorov.

They appeared briefly in the Johannesburg High Court on Thursday, looking relaxed and occasionally smiling. 

The five are on trial for the 2013 murder of Sam Issa, an alleged Bedfordview drug kingpin who was gunned down.

A constant change in legal representation and several others matters, including outstanding evidence documents, has caused regular postponements since April.

On Thursday, the State indicated that all the requested documents had now been disclosed.

Attorney for Mafunda, JP Marais, told the court that he had everything the State had disclosed and would be ready for trial.

"If we can find a suitable date for trial, I am ready to go," Marais said.

Most of the other parties also indicated that they should be ready to start trial once they have had a chance to look at all the disclosed documents.

A provisional date was set down for October 5 in order to determine if all parties were ready to proceed on the official trial date, which has been set down for October 11.

Should the defence decide to launch any new applications, the date would once again be postponed.
