Johannesburg - Convicted drug dealer Radovan Krejcir and three of his four co-accused appeared briefly in the High Court in Johannesburg on Wednesday.

The group of four and one other accused are standing trial for the murder of Lebanese national Sam Issa.

The court was told that one of the accused could not attend because staff at the correctional services centre where he was being held were on strike. This made it difficult for police to collect him and bring him to court.

Judge Winston Msimeki told SW van der Merwe, representing Krejcir's four co-accused, that the head of the prison should be able to help them reach their client.

"If contacted, the head of prison will have a way of assisting," Msimeki said.

Issa was gunned down while he waited at an intersection in Bedfordview around 06:00 on Saturday, October 12 2013.

Police found at least 30 spent cartridges at the scene.

Krejcir faces nine charges, along with co-accused Bulgarian Lybohir Grigorov, Mfaniseni Memela, Nkanyiso Mafunda and Siboniso Miya.

The State said on Wednesday that consultations between all the parties had not concluded successfully on Tuesday.

It asked Msimeki to allow lawyers to continue with their consultation, as well as further consultation with their clients. Msimeki agreed.

The trial has been postponed to Monday.

On Tuesday, the matter was also postponed as a result of an affidavit by a State witness that was added as new evidence to the trial.

The affidavit, which News24 has in its possession, allegedly links Krejcir to convicted drug dealer Glenn Agliotti, as well as the bribery of police officials.

Krejcir's four co-accused also appeared in the Kagiso Magistrate's Court on Tuesday in connection with a recent robbery. The case was remanded to June 4.
