Krugersdorp – Gauteng police are investigating a case of double murder after an apparent mob justice attack in Krugersdorp on Monday.
Police spokesperson Captain Tsekiso Mofokeng said officers found two bodies in a field opposite the Krugersdorp Correctional Services facility, one of which had been burned to death, and the other with a fatal gunshot wound.
"When the police arrived at the scene, the two victims were already dead," he said.
It is believed that the incident took place in Monument Street on Monday night around 19:00.
The local Krugersdorp Community Policing Forum and ambulance services, along with Mogale City's Emergency Management Services, rushed to the scene to assist the victims.
"We are still unsure what the motive behind these murders are, but we are investigating the case," Mofokeng said.
Mofokeng said that no arrests had been made.
