Durban – KwaZulu-Natal police on Friday urged businesses and the public to remain vigilant during the festive season.

“We will increase our police deployments in those areas where most crimes are committed and we appeal to customers and business people to be vigilant,” provincial commissioner Major General Bheki Langa said in a statement.

Langa made the comments after three gunmen robbed a gold company in Pinetown on Wednesday. Employees at neighbouring businesses chased them. Police arrested them. They are aged between 20 and 30.

Langa called on the public to report suspicious activities at business premises by contacting Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
