KZN cops nab double murder suspect

Durban - Police in KZN have hailed the arrest of a 26-year-old man as a significant success, with their suspect allegedly linked to two murders.

Police spokesperson Major Thulani Zwane said that the man had been wanted for murders in Nkandla and Melmoth and was arrested on Friday.

“The arrested suspect will appear in the Empangeni Magistrate’s Court tomorrow facing charges of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition,” he said.

“On Friday and intelligence driven operation was conducted by UThungulu Crime Intelligence Unit and Nkandla Detectives at the Empangeni central business district.

“The members were following up information about their wanted suspect who was wanted for murder, attempted murder and possession of unlicensed firearms.

He said that the man was traced and was arrested and was found in possession of two unlicensed 9mm pistols and 31 rounds ammunition,” Zwane said.
