Durban - The body of a Chatsworth woman whose car was washed off a low-lying bridge in Silverglen on Monday night has been found.

This follows a lengthy operation by members of the police’s search and rescue unit.

The woman was presumed drowned when her car was washed off the bridge and she was seen trying to clamber from the vehicle.

On Monday night, divers attempted to search the area where she had disappeared but the rescue bid was abandoned due to rising water levels and low light.

Police divers and other rescuers returned to the scene this morning.

Her body was pulled from the river a short while ago.

This brings the death toll to two, after the Department of Co-operative Governance on Monday confirmed that one person had died the flooding.
