“Come and die in my shop, please,” is a common request when he’s in a shopping mall, Durban chef Andrew Draper tells YOU over the phone.

Andrew’s “body” shows up in restaurants, airports or in parks . . . But don’t worry, it’s all staged. Andrew is from Umhlanga Rocks and says he started the Instagram profile – where he posts pics of his "dead body" with the hashtag #alllivesmatter – to prove a point.

"n a society obsessed with selfies, how we look, what we drive, who we know and what we have, Drew would rather die! Join his lifeless daily adventures," Andrew explains on his Instagram profile, @drew_dies_daily.

"It’s a lot of fun. Because Instagram and other social media platforms are so egocentric, I felt I wanted to do something that goes against that.

"I don’t feel shy or embarrassed by it – my name’s already in the gutter, so I may as well lie next to the road,” he jokes on the phone.

His antics are reminiscent of the planking trend from a few years ago, when people would plank in the strangest places and then post pictures of it on social media.

Certain people might find Drew Dies Daily a tad macabre but most of the pictures and videos are truly funny. Andrew posts every day and his followers can’t wait to see where Drew’s "lifeless body" will surface next.

The chef has sold his restaurant in Umhlanga Rocks and can now be seen on TV working with wedding planner Zavion Kotze-Brereton, whom many might recognize from reality shows Survivor SA and Wedding Bashers.

"Some people step over me while others pose for pictures next to me and post their selfies online. Thus far, no one has thought I was really dead," Drew says.

His locations range from shopping malls, airports and convenience stores to up in a tree in the Hluhluwe game reserve.
