Durban – A man who was believed to have gone missing for several days was found a kilometre down a ravine with a fractured leg on Thursday morning, local paramedics said.

The man was found in the Msunduzi area, near Cato Ridge, after a frantic search by the South African Community Crime Watch and a group of volunteers.

ER24 paramedics spokesperson Chitra Bodasing Harduth said paramedics as well as other authorities, including the police's search and rescue unit, went to the scene and found that the man had sustained a fracture to his right leg.

The community assisted in carrying the man out of the area and he was taken to hospital.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
