Durban – An investigation into an unlicensed firearm at a Watersmeet home outside Ladysmith led to the discovery of just under 40kg of dagga, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Wednesday.

Officers from the Ladysmith Tactical Response Team arrested two people, Major Thulani Zwane said.

“Police were following up on information about an unlicensed firearm, which led them to a home in Watersmeet outside Ladysmith. A search of the property yielded a find of just under 40kg of dagga, an unlicensed revolver and three rounds of ammunition.”

The dagga had an estimated street value of R60 000. The two people arrested, aged 21 and 34, would face charges of possession of dagga and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
